293: Crafting Headlines with Curiosity and Transformation
Are Your LinkedIn Headlines Failing to Captivate?
Your headline should resonate with the transformations or results your ideal client seeks. It's not just about what you do but the impact you make. Melissa's key advice is to create unique and enticing headlines focused on piquing interest rather than cramming in every detail. She emphasizes the importance of capturing attention through curiosity and clearly communicating the transformation or desired state that potential clients seek. Melissa also contrasts the approach of employees who sell skills with entrepreneurs who sell services, results, and transformations.

Melissa Henault:
Okay. So let me start with she wants me to review her headline. Okay. Here's my 2¢. She said I feel like I keep changing it. Are there some core things I should focus on? I was told to focus on parts of the headline. So here's my 2¢ on headlines. Headlines are about capturing attention, either through curiosity or through speaking to the transformation or desired state that your ideal client is looking for.
Melissa Henault:
Your headline is not the same real estate it was when you were employed. Your headline is not about your title, because what Sarah submitted is, should it be skill 1 and then skill 2 and then skill 3? And I'm like, no. We're not selling our skills as entrepreneurs. We're not selling our skills. Employees sell their skills. K? Entrepreneurs sell services, sell transformation, sell results. Right? So you want headlines that capture attention through either curiosity or speaking of the transformation. So what I was gonna do is give you guys my examples.
Melissa Henault:
If you go to my profile right now, I have 2 really major headlines. 1 is leading the modern entrepreneur movement. So what that does is create curiosity. What is the modern entrepreneur movement? If people are curious, I wanna create curiosity for them to click in and wanna learn more about that. The other thing I have is corporate dropout, light bulb curiosity. Right? It's a desire state for some of you. Right? Corporate dropout, and then I have turned digital CEO teaching business owners no fluff, burnout proof, growth strategies. So in that headline, I've captured your attention, but I've also talked about a result that you may desire.
Melissa Henault:
The result you may desire is no fluff burnout proof strategies, right, for your business. So I want you just thinking about the last thing I'll say on this before we move to the next person is if your headline could be about 5 other people in your industry, you need to go back to the drawing board because it's not unique enough. Your your headline should create enough curiosity that people wanna click in and learn more. The mistake people make is they try to put everything in their headline. That's not the purpose. The purpose of the headline is create curiosity. The feed and personal connection will tell the story. K? Your profile will tell the story.
Melissa Henault:
Okay? Alright.
